Artist's Comments

Quite often, I think my descriptions are pointless, inappropriate or just a desperate effort to make the above-submitted look more interesting. An artist's work should speak for itself. I should seriously consider that.

But if there is something one must admire in all this nature - a powerful, indestructible incarnation of Gaia -, it is by all means the mighty Oak.

Stejar, Oak, Chêne, Eiche, Carvalho, whatever its name, it is great. In an oak forest, it does not get the chance of growing to its largest. But left alone, it spreads its gnarled arms and fingers like saying "be there no one telling me to move".

They take storms head on and stand for decades and centuries. Some could even tell stories of kings, outlaws, horses and spaceships, given we understood them.

Eventually, resourceful man came up with petrol/explosive-powered means of bringing these giants down - dynamite, tanks, chainsaws... only to be turned into furniture and railroad sleepers! How low.

Oh my wow!!! This is amazing! I love the composition and the feeling of it. Great colors, so soft yet well balanced. Really, great job!

You say that you don't like writing descriptions, but I find them to be the most interesting part. It is what YOU feel the image is about, that is why this image intrigued you so much that you wanted to share it with everyone else. :)

What you said about the forests and single trees is such a clever thing: how the single trees spread their gnarled branches out to take advantage of all the available space, having it know that nothing can impede it's growth, and you have this picture of a MASSIVE oak perfectly fitting your statement.

It's those bits of remarks you include in your description that really and truly enhance your photography, as well as what you thought of this great oak when you took it's photo, so as to share your feelings with us.
